This section of the site is under construction! Here I aim to describe the non-academic side of my life.
My main interest aside of mathematics is music.
I enjoy various styles of electronic music (trance, techno, psy-chill, progressive, chill-out, ambient, drum'n'bass, etc), as well as alternative rock, European metal and some popular classics.
I also play piano and guitar (kind of) and am an amateur composer, songwriter and producer. I will later add here some of my original tracks, but so far I will only leave a link to a remix by me.
Other than music and mathematics I often enjoy movies and serials (although there is no time to watch them really), urban tourism, and have a strong interest in history and philosophy.
About my name:
My first name is Евгений (it is Russian; the usual transliteration is Yevgeny). I was born in Ukraine in 1990, when it was still a part of the Soviet Union, where Russian was the de-facto official language (and is also my first language). The name indicated in my passport now is Ievgen. It has undergone two rounds of changes: first it was translated from Russian into Ukrainian (Евгений => Євген), and then the Ukrainian version was transliterated into English under the transliteration rules that were valid at the time of receiving the passport. If I received the passport under the present rules, it would be spelled as Ievhen. The issue here is that the sound in the Ukrainian version is something in between of G and H. All the three mentioned names (Евгений, Євген and Eugene) are adaptations of the Greek word "εὐγενής" (noble). Analogous names exist in all European languages (and some non-European), see the list here. Unless you are confident that you know how to pronounce "Евгений", I prefer to be called "Eugene".
